Gwen was my writing teacher for a weeklong fiction workshop in Paris. She was so kind to me. I was just looking her up to see how she was…so sad to learn she has passed. I had no idea her history was so illustrious.
Having just moved to NYC some 10 years ago, we ran into Gwen on Columbus Avenue. She became a bonus grandmother to our children and a dear friend. We only gradually found out what an important figure she had been in the entertainment and literary world. Thanks for this wonderful overview of her fascinating career and life.
Gwen wrote the lyrics to One Another while Bill Danoff wrote the music, the song was intended for a movie adaptation of Kingdom Come, but it didn't happen, the song was recorded by Bill and Taffy Danoff for their 174 album ACES, just before they formed Starland Vocal Band. She also cowrote the song Mr.Wrong for Starland Vocal Band's 1977 Rear View Mirror album
I was a friend of Gwen’s as was my sister & have not seen Gwen in the last few years as she no longer stayed in Los Angeles. I have been wondering about her & came upon your article just today. Thank you for writing this wonderful publication describing her so well..She was terrific & I will miss her!
